Students’ perception about learning autonomy
Abstract
In order to improve English proficiency, it is necessary for a student to allocate more time to learn the language. However, both schools and parents are limited in terms of both time and resource. As such, it is necessary for that particular student to be capable of supervising and directing his or her own learning - the capacity known as learning autonomy. Such capacity requires student’s internal drive to accomplish: a drive related much to beliefs of that particular student – a perception. This study aimed to see the perception of a group of English Department students towards learning autonomy and how. Result showed that students’ perception are ranging from negative to moderate, with quite noticeable difference in their GPA
