A Psychoanalysis study of Victorian Woman Sexuality in Dracula by Bram Stoker


ABSTRACT
The title of this research is ―A Psychoanalysis Study of Victorian Women Sexuality in Dracula by Bram Stoker‖. This research’s purpose is to reveal how is the condition of women sexuality in the Victorian era.
Descriptive research is applied in this research in order to know the Victorian women sexuality. Beside that content analysis are helped the writer to analyze the Victorian women sexuality depicted in the novel. Through the Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychoanalysis and other source of Victorian women sexuality, it found that the Victorian women are divided into two groups, whether they were a whore or completely a figure of ―Angel in the House‖.
Therefore, the results of this research showed that Victorian has a belief that women were restricted to express their sexual feeling. The female characters in Dracula represented each type of Victorian women.The three Vampire sisters in which the writer found them as ―whore‖ because of their sexuality appereance. Mina and Lucy are embodiment the idea of ideal Victorian women, eventhough in the end of the story both of them are become the fallen Victorian women because of their intercourse with Dracula.
